River Valley High School participated in the NCC Precision Drill Squad (PDS) Grand Finals held on 18 March 2023.
Earlier, our school had achieved a sterling 2nd Runner-Up Position in the West District Preliminaries Competition. This result allowed us to be one of the few schools from the District Competition to qualify for the National Finals.
Leading up to the Grand Finals, the team had to return to school frequently to train as we worked to get ourselves used to some major modifications to our routine. Even though the training sessions were tough, our team persevered through the hardship and worked towards excelling and improving ourselves.
The Grand Finals took place at *SCAPE, allowing the general public to witness the proceedings.
On the day of the competition itself, our team was given little time to get used to the weight of the rifles which were being used during the competition as they were different from the ones that we had practiced with in school.
Preparing for their turn
However, we adapted to the situation and remained steadfast in the face of adversity, ultimately attaining the position of 2nd Runner-Up in the competition.

As a PDS team, we were proud to have represented RV in this competition. We would like to thank the school, our teachers, and especially our graduated senior, Zong Jie, for coming back to help us during every training session despite his busy schedule.
We greatly cherish the memories that our team has made during our journey towards the competition, and we do hope that they will not be forgotten.
